What this site publishes, who it is for, and why the record-keeping rules for explicit material do not apply to it.

What we publish
Editorial writing about nightlife, luxury travel, adult culture and the industries around it: city profiles, practical guides, reference entries, and fiction.
The writing is frank about its subject. It is not pornography, and the site publishes no sexually explicit imagery.
Who appears on this site
Two categories, and they are kept strictly apart.
Real people appear only in the Encyclopedia, and only as documented public figures in a documented historical context, from published sources. We publish no contact details, no availability, no prices, and no photographs taken from other sites.
Fictional characters appear in Profiles. Every one of them is invented by us. The names, ages, cities, histories and images are fictional, every image is generated, and every character is written as an adult. None depicts, is modelled on, or is named after a real identifiable person. Nobody there is available for anything, because nobody there exists.
18 U.S.C. § 2257
The record-keeping requirements of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2257 and 2257A apply to visual depictions of actual human beings engaged in actual sexually explicit conduct.
This site contains no such depictions. The images in the Profiles section are computer-generated and portray no actual human being; no actual human being appears in them, and no sexually explicit conduct is depicted anywhere on this site. On that basis the requirements of §§ 2257 and 2257A do not apply to any material published here.

We do not ask visitors to verify their age, because nothing published here falls within the categories that legislation such as the United Kingdom’s Online Safety Act or the age-verification statutes of several United States jurisdictions require verification for.
